Welcome to INTEGRATIVE CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTE

In 2015, Wellness Institute International Inc. (WII), celebrated a milestone: our 25th year in the challenging but exhilarating world of natural medicine! The Institute was founded in Silicon Valley, California, amidst the intellectual brilliance, thick-willed determination and boundless energy for discovery ushered in by the dawn of the computer age. We carried this spirit of innovation to the Philippines, where we opened our first clinic, training and research center in 2000.

WII is a health and wellness clinic, research, and teaching center registered in California, USA; Manila, PHILIPPINES; and Lourdes, FRANCE. We are a community of doctors (MDs, NDs), holistic nutritionists, educators, scientists, herbalists, environmentalists and missionaries.

With approximately 5,000 patient visits annually, WII is a true chronic disease prevention, management and control landmark in Asia.

Reaching out to more people in the community and the world continues to be our main goal. Our untiring commitment to help people live better and live longer prompted the integration of the entire institute’s activities and programs as Integrative Cancer Research Institute (ICRI). As one of world’sbest and the only integrative & Functional cancer facility in Asia, ICRI broadens our service to the local and international communities by addressing the underlying causes of diseases, patient-centered whole person management, control of chronic diseases, integrative and Functional healthcare approaches and fostering a patient and practitioner therapeutic partnership for more healthy, productive individuals and improved quality of life.

The ICRI charter primarily seeks to provide the latest innovative, natural and proven therapies and approaches in addressing today’s epidemic of chronic diseases. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, the following:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular Disease/Hypertension
  • HIV-AIDs
  • Auto-Immune Diseases
  • Obesity
  • Addictions: food, nicotine, alcohol, sugar and drugs

Secondly, we strive to replace the outdated and ineffective acute care models carried from 20 th century health care practices with effective chronic disease prevention systems. Lastly, as one of the world’s leading training center for integrating theory and practice of natural medicine, we educate and train a new generation of health care professionals, physicians, nurses, therapists and scientists about integrative and Functional approaches to care, employ proactive, personalized and highly successful health management techniques.

ICRI also provides a leading voice to help shape integrated health care systems. Our executive staff, researchers and doctors have more than forty five years of direct and extensive experience in natural, integrative and functional medicine, professional development, education and research to foster just,
sustainable and healthy generations to come.

1.3 ICRI GOALS

Five goals guide our mission to transform true health care:

  • To develop, demonstrate, and implement effective integrative models for clinical service.
  • To educate and train a new generation of health care professionals and scientists about integrative and functional approaches to care for the benefit of their patients and themselves.
  • To establish, through rigorous academic research, the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of integrative and functional models of care and education.
  • To design programs promoting public health, particularly among high risk and underserved populations, and disseminate innovative patient therapies and scientific discoveries to our target communities throughout the world.
  • To be a leading voice in the national discourse shaping the future of healthcare based on our experiences in new models of medicine, professional education, and research.

To achieve our vision, mission and goals, we have established:

HOW IS THE INTEGRATIVE CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTE DIFFERENT?

ICRI strives to understand the root cause, prevention, and treatment of complex, chronic disease.

Hallmarks of the ICRI approach include:

  • Patient-centered care. The focus of ICRI is patient-centered care, promoting health as a positive vitality beyond the absence of disease. By listening to the patient and learning his or her story, the practitioner brings the patient into the discovery process and tailors treatments to address the individual’s unique needs.
  • An integrative, science-based healthcare approach. ICRI practitioners look “upstream” to consider the complex web of interactions in the patient’s history, physiology, and lifestyle that can lead to illness. The unique genetic makeup of each patient is considered, along with both internal (mind, body, and spirit) and external (physical and social environment) factors that affect total functioning.
  • Best medical practices. ICRI integrates traditional Western medical practices with integrative or functional medicine, creating a focus on prevention through nutrition, diet, and exercise; use of the latest laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques; and combinations of prescribed drugs and/or botanical medicines, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, or stress-management techniques.

The INTEGRATIVE CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ICRI) is fully committed to providing the best cancer treatment available today while continuously developing tomorrow’s cure through cutting edge research. We tie individual well-being and productivity directly to health care issues. We believe that natural, integrative functional approaches to health care (naturopathy) are the most effective ways to manage and control chronic diseases. These natural and traditional modalities are proactive, non- intrusive, and have no side effects in addressing various health conditions, even in cases of life threatening diseases like cancer. Furthermore, our approach, which emphasizes prevention and good health promotion, is much more cost-effective.

Current research studies include: exploring the relationship between diet, inflammation and type 2 diabetes ♦ treatment of metabolic syndrome ♦ research on health disparities and naturopathic and functional medicine ♦ moods in relation to type 2 diabetes ♦ enhanced treatment of autoimmune diseases

ICRI Training Centre:

A multidisciplinary graduate school that trains healers and holistic practitioners in science-based natural, integrative and functional medicine. As patients flock to medical offices across the world with more complex diseases from the toxicity of modern living, a new breed of practitioner is needed to address their health problems. This modern healer must surpass a failed medical industry, which employs outdated treatment models and has grossly undervalued the notion of prevention and holistic health of body, mind, and spirit.

ICRI invites you to imagine how education and training
at the Integrative Cancer Research Institute can help you reinvent your life and the lives of others. Health and happiness are inextricably linked. The better you care for your health, the bigger the impact you can have on the world. Together, we can create a just, sustainable, and healthy world!

ICRI Organic Farm

@ Sitio Mayligan & Sitio Sagpangan, Aborlan Palawan is a 110-hectare (242 acres) haven of trees, medicinal botanicals and herbs. A naturally preserved rainforest, fostering a harmonious relationship between people, animals, plants and the environment. Medicinal plants and herbs throughout the world are becoming increasingly rare, due to an ongoing destruction of natural habitat, genetic modification, extreme use of pesticides and herbicides, over-harvesting of wild species and detrimental changes to the climate and environment. Today’s healthcare systems rely largely on plant material. Much of the world's population depends on traditional medicine to meet daily health requirements, especially within developing countries. Use of plant-based remedies is also widespread in many industrialized countries and numerous pharmaceuticals are based on or derived from plant compounds. Similarly, cosmetics and other household products may contain plants of medicinal or therapeutic value. ICRI organic farm produce will provide the raw materials needed for our organic laboratory “Herbiotics.” In addition to the obvious economic perks of organic premiums, organic farmers benefit from having a vibrant community of farmers with renewed passion for farming. Most importantly, good farming practices benefit the environment, farmers and their families, communities, and the world. Our commitment as an organic community: Every plant and weed that grows inside the sanctuary is for food and medicine, sustenance and healing.

ICRI Organic Kitchen

FOOD AS MEDICINE was originally coined by Hippocrates. He believed that eating wholesome food is the basis for good health.  Hippocrates said, “Leave your drugs in the chemist’s pot if you can heal the patient with food.” Mounting research shows that there is no magic bullet to treat heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders, headaches, fatigue, or any of the myriad problems we suffer from in the 21st century. But increasing evidence also shows us something else. It shows that food is the most powerful “drug” we have not just to prevent, but also treat, cure, and reverse most chronic illnesses. According to Dr. Walter Willett, chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health and one of the leading researchers in the world in nutrition, “It is time to end the confusion. ‘Food As Medicine’ presents the best current scientific evidence for physicians, nutritionists, and other health professionals who want to counsel patients and teach students.” ICRI Organic Kitchen nourishes your body with flavorful, healthy foods and biodynamic juices and teas. It serves all fresh, organic and delicious cuisine straight from our own organic farm. Our wholesome foods are thoughtfully prepared with a spirit of love and prayer.

Prayer Pavilion

A quiet space for spiritual reflection in which to unload all your burdens, connect and pray to God, and find true healing for your mind, body and spirit. Be at peace in this spiritual haven, discovering the incredible mystery of the love of God and gift of life.

Far Infrared Sauna

Toxicity is our greatest concern in the 21th century. There are many new and stronger chemicals, air and water pollution, radiation and nuclear power. We ingest new chemicals, use more drugs of all kinds, eat more sugar, refined & fast foods, and abuse ourselves daily with various stimulants and sedatives. Eliminate accumulated toxins by using the Far Infrared Sauna.
