As a visionary leader, he recognizes the profound impact of systemic barriers—such as socioeconomic inequalities, lack of resources, and inadequate support systems—that hinder health and educational outcomes for these individuals. His role extends far beyond traditional leadership, as he actively served as a catalyst for transformative change, inspiring hope and fostering resilience. By creating empowering programs and advocating for policy reforms, he nurtured the unique potential of each individual, helping them to rise above the obstacles they face and achieve their dreams.
Blending spiritual guidance with practical solutions, his work demonstrated that faith is not only about belief but about actions, about showing love compassion and resilience in a broken world. www.nimgonzalezlegacy.org

Dr. Tanri Abeng, MBA, PhD
March 7, 1042 – June 23, 2024
Former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Republic of Indonesia
Health and wellness in Indonesia encompass a broad spectrum of practices, beliefs, and initiatives that reflect the nation's rich cultural diversity and evolving health landscape. The country is home to over 17,000 islands and hundreds of ethnic groups, each contributing unique perspectives on health and healing. Traditional medicine, including practices rooted in Jamu and other local herbs, remains integral to many communities. However, as Indonesia faces modern health challenges such as non-communicable diseases and an increasing burden on healthcare services, there is a pressing need to integrate these traditional practices with contemporary medical approaches. This fusion aims to create a holistic healthcare system that honors cultural heritage while addressing current health needs.
In 2023, Dr. Tanri Abeng, MBA, PhD, known by many as the architect of Indonesia's modern economy, has the remarkable distinction of serving for over two decades under five Indonesian presidents in various roles, including advisor, minister, and reformer. With a vision and dedication to transform health and well-being of his people of Indonesia, he embarked on a significant legacy project with the Wellness Institute International, represented by Dr. Christine Gonzalez, ND, PhD. A dedicated naturopathic medicine practitioner and public health advocate, Dr. Gonzalez emphasizes the importance of merging traditional Indonesian medicine with contemporary health practices to create solutions that resonate with local cultures while meeting modern health challenges. James Mahshi, a social entrepreneur with over four decades devoted to Silat—an indigenous martial art from the Nusantara and surrounding regions—has spent years discovering diverse natural health practitioners across Asia and even into Russia. His tireless quest for healing practices culminated in a collaboration with Gonzalez and Abeng to harness the healing power of nature. This inspired journey led to the registration of Wellness Institute International Inc. in Jakarta by Dr. Abeng.
The Wellness Institute International is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the indelible mark that he left to his people in Indonesia. A legacy that will transform countless lives and will continue to inspire future generations to prioritize wellness and holistic health. This innovative project aspires to elevate the health and overall well-being of individuals throughout Indonesia, building upon Dr. Abeng's relentless dedication to making a difference. He has fervently championed accessible healthcare solutions while advocating for a comprehensive approach to wellness that integrates physical, mental, and emotional health, ensuring that each facet of well-being is celebrated and nurtured.
